Days With Giants At Fight Fortress. We have been extremely lucky to have some of the greats in the Martial Arts and Fighting World grace us with their presence at Fight Fortress here in North Wales. The short talk above tells the stories of when Geoff Thompson, Peter Consterdine and Alfie Lewis all, at one time or another, took to our mats. These truly were Days With Giants.

An Everyday Warrior. From a very young age, I realised my father was not a man of honour. If God sent me an angel in my wife Julie, he most certainly sent me a devil for a dad. I was just six years of age when I saw my first "heavy", a mountain of a man, sent to our house to recover a debt my father owed.

Drains, a Life of Adversity. I was three years old, I had been lost in the woods and, in a separate incident, fallen down a drain where I remained for quite some time before being found and rescued by neighbouring housewives searching for me.

Simon on his first book, “When Geoff Thompson first asked me to write a book about my life, my troubles, poor mental health, abuse, but also the happy times, Julie and the kids, achieving my first Black Belt and the glories that went with that, I think, when it came to choosing the title, I became a little blindsided and went with a title that screamed Martial Arts all over it. After all, From Bullied to Black Belt was, on face value, the journey I took.

This isn’t written out of malice, I have none, it is not written for revenge, I don’t seek it. It is just an insight. All boys need their fathers, just not one like Peter Morrell.

For obvious reasons, I can’t name the Liverpool gunman who came looking for the money my dad owed, but if we get the story made into a film (as we are trying) James Nelson-Joyce is an absolute match for him.
