Betrayal, Bullying & Alcohol Withdrawal. I've never kept my alcohol abuse a secret. It isn't something I am particularly ashamed of, nor something to feel proud about, but my withdrawal was a desperate attempt to rid myself of hangovers, falls, arguments and ultimately the man who caused me to drink so much in the first place; my father.
For years, I had tried to impress him, usually falling short, and instead, he sought to bully me, control me, manipulate me and in the end, break me.
And so I drank. Please be aware that the above talk contains upsetting scenes and language, but it is, as always, authentic. I doubt very much you could make up a story with more drama than the one I talk about.
